Wer seine vertraute Heimat hinter sich lässt, um auszuwandern - in der Hoffnung auf eine bessere Zukunft, ein freieres Leben oder einfach nur, um zu überleben -, nimmt Teile seines kulturellen Alltags mit. Objekte können helfen, das Vertraute mit sich zu tragen oder das drohende Unheil abzuwenden. Motive, die zum Beispiel in Kelims verwendet werden, sind heute ebenso vergessen wie die Bedeutung von Talismanen, die vor Tod und Unglück schützen sollen. Die Künstlerin setzt sich in ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit mit verschiedenen Formen des Erinnerns auseinander und stellt in ihrer ortsspezifischen Arbeit Ölüme karşı tılsımlar (Talisman gegen den Tod) das Auto als Transportmittel auf Migrationsrouten in den Mittelpunkt. Sie konzentriert sich auf speziell ausgewählte Objekte, die Glück bringen sollen und hoffentlich auch in Zukunft wirken werden. Und in der Tat, was würden wir ohne diese Gewohnheiten tun? Die Installation stellt nicht nur die Vitrine im 1959 errichteten Konstabler-Parkhaus und den Kontext der Arbeitsbeschaffung für den Wiederaufbau neu vor.

Those who leave behind their familiar homes to emigrate—hoping for a better future, a freer life, or simply to survive—take pieces of their cultural everyday life with them. Objects can help carry the familiar with them or ward off impending doom. Motifs, for example, used in kilims, are now forgotten, as is the meaning of talismans meant to protect against death and misfortune. The artist explores various forms of remembering in her artistic work and, with her site-specific work Ölüme karşı tılsımlar (Talisman against death), she places the car as a means of transport on migration routes at the center. She focuses on specially selected objects meant to bring luck, hopefully continuing to have an effect in the future. And indeed, what would we do without these habits? The installation not only reintroduces the showcase in the 1959-built Konstabler car park and the context of labor recruitment for reconstruction.
